Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications along with resumes for a full-time Fire Alarm TechnicianThe Fire Alarm Technician will work individually and/or as a part of a team to provide support to new and existing customer’s systems and components in various industries that may include, but are not limited to: Energy, Mining, Concrete, Oil and Gas, Aggregate, Food & Drug / General Industry, etc.

The Fire Alarm Technician will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Morgantown, WV.  Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC Metro Area, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and New Jersey. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blue prints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm, network, security and/or other related electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
  • Coordinate with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures in assigned systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and building regulations.
  • Inspect electrical / fire alarm / security systems/networking systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Install electrical system components as assigned (e.g. panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, switches, cameras, servers etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced, new, and upgraded system capabilities.
  • Prepare written materials for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information. Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or technical degree in related field
  • Possess NICET fire protection certification
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience with installation and repair of electronic security and fire alarm systems
  • Technical knowledge of security technologies.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Skill in dealing with the public in a manner which will facilitate any constructive problem solving possible.
  • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations. Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule with some out of town and overnight travel
  • Ability to be able to work independently
  • This position is subject to the Pillar Innovations’ Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing

  • Required safety equipment:  Metatarsal boots, ARC flash rated clothing, protective eye wear, gloves, hard hat, and hearing protection

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
  2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. In accordance with Pillar Innovation’s Drug and Alcohol policy, employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
