Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications and resumes for a full-time Assistant Division Manager.  The Assistant Division Manager will assist with coordinating business operations for the Pillar Grantsville Division along with assessing division performance, solving customer issues, allocating resources, assigning work, implementing company procedures and recruiting employees.  The Assistant Division Manager will provide leadership and assistance to employees supporting a wide range of trades through various construction, mechanical and industrial projects. This position will require a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, weekends, holidays and evenings. 

The Assistant Division Manager will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Grantsville, MD. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operations of the Grantsville, MD Division; establish operational and administrative policies, relay instructions and procedural revisions to the management staff, and keep employees informed on matters that pertain to their job.
  • Continuously improve all aspects of divisional operations to improve quality of service, efficiency of department, employee and equipment performance.
  • Manage workflow and inventory to support daily operations.
  • Responsible for scheduling manpower.
  • Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance and consults with Division Manager on reported areas for improvement, repair, replacement…etc
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of the shop
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates, authorize leaves of absence and overtime and reviews employee’s performance.
  • Responsible for conducting weekly Safety Meetings with employees
  • Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures
  • Ensure proper communication to Division Manager on all pertinent issues.
  • Listen and respond immediately with an appropriate amount of concern to all customer issues.  Analyze, solve and correct customer issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other areas of the company as required

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • Prior administrative / management experience in managing complex and multi-faceted operations with competing priorities is required
  • Knowledge of sound and consistent management practices and principles, including well developed human relation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and supervise subordinate personnel.
  • Effective and diplomatic verbal and written communications skills, tact and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, weekends, holidays, evenings and possible night shift.
  • Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
  • Must be able to work well with co-workers in a team environment
  • Demonstrate a keen awareness of safety and safe practices and making safety a top priority

  • Sit, talk, hear, read, write and type.

  • Ability to work at heights upwards of 40’
  • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations.
  • Required to wear safety equipment: as per MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.

  1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
