Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications and resumes’ for a full-time Industrial ProgrammerThe Industrial Programmer will work individually and/or as a part of a team to provide support to existing customer’s systems and components in various industries that may include, but are not limited to: Mining, Aggregate, Food & Drug / General Industry, etc. This position is customer-driven and candidates must be flexible and willing to work extended hours.  This position will require travel to customer sites with some over-night/out-of-town stay.       

The Industrial Programmer will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Morgantown, WV.  Pillar has expanded its reach into the Baltimore/DC area and offers an exciting work environment with constantly changing and growing challenges. Pillar Innovations is seeking a creative and driven Industrial Programmer to join the team. Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC Metro Area, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and New Jersey. 


  • Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair for customers
  • Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities
  • Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed
  • Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFD’s, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements
  • Modifies systems upon customer’s request and documents the amendments accordingly


  • Applicants must be a citizen of the United States with a valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in process control and automation
  • Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software
  • Familiar with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500
  • Working experience and knowledge with HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
  • Ability to balance multiple projects
  • Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus
  • Travel as required (50-75% at times) to support projects
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work
