Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications and resumes’ for a full-time Telemetry/SCADA TechnicianThe Telemetry/SCADA Technician is actively involved in supporting SCADA data collection, installing, maintaining, configuring and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure reliable data collection/support field and office communication system and field PLC maintenance.

The Instrumentation Technician will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Morgantown, WV.  Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC Metro Area, and Ohio. 


  • Responsible for routine calibrations on various types of instruments including: gas monitors, pressure, temperature, process, level, flow, scales and analytical water quality instruments.
  • Troubleshoot process control performance issues associated with the systems measurement and control devices.
  • Manage various SCADA related field projects
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain SCADA communications systems
  • Work with field OPS to troubleshoot compressor panel communications and PLC issues
  • Work with measurement to troubleshoot measurement issues for data retrieval and installation support as needed
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation to include but not limited to: recorders, data loggers, transmitters, strain gauges, load cells, accelerometers and other discrete sensors with some supervision.
  • Assist in setting up and configuring instrumentation, installing or rigging it on the test article, supporting it during testing and removing the instrumentation once the test is complete.
  • Use test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, multimeters and oscilloscopes, soldering iron and basic hand tools.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule and be available after-hours and on weekends.
  • Self-directing and follows up on deficiencies identified from operational issues.
  • Clearly communicate issues and problems to venders and others. Offer reliable solutions while considering code and safety concerns.
  • Participates in the resolution of reliability related operational, process, equipment and maintenance problems to prevent operational upsets.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies concerning environmental, health, safety, quality and human resources.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous instrumentation experience
  • Working knowledge of all wireless communications
  • Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of natural gas and liquids measurement
  • Exhibit good project management and communications skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Experience with ABB Totalflow preferred but not required
