  • Overview

    Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications for a full-time Electrical Estimator.  The Electrical Estimator is responsible for providing project pricing, estimates and quotes to support the efforts of the Electrical Team.  The Electrical Estimator may also assist in the scheduling and overall coordination of projects, which can include but not be limited to the following: availability of personnel, resources and materials; required tooling and equipment and provide project start-up support to the Project Manager assigned to the job.  This position will regularly communicate and coordinate with various departments to support the following (but not limited to) industries such as: Industrial Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Factories, Plants, Coal, Wind Energy, etc. 


    This position will require a flexible schedule that includes extended hours, weekends, holidays and evenings.  Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  MD, PA, WV, and OH.

    The Electrical Estimator will work out of the Pillar Shop located in Morgantown, WV.

    • Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in site visits, as required, prior to submitting a bid
    • Prepare pricing estimates for new projects; add-on work and for change orders on existing projects.
    • Read, understand and incorporate bid instructions and detailed specifications in each estimate
    • Prepare and submit bids with all required bidding documents.
    • Prepare and accurate “take off” of materials included in the jobs; estimating all necessary labor, materials, equipment and delivery costs to prepare thorough estimates.
    • Prepare preliminary project schedules for submittal with bid, as required.
    • Prepare and provide all necessary job information to ensure successful “hand-off” of estimates to Project Managers
    • Confer with customers to assess needs and provide deliverables that are accurate and precise.
    • Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers to assist them in quoting and to seek their review and approvals of each bid prior to submittal
    • Proficient use of estimation software.
    • Lead the quoting, planning and implementation of customer projects and initiatives
    • Assist in other areas of the company and perform other duties as assigned


    • 3+ years of experience in estimating electrical projects of varying complexity from start to finish
    • Ability to develop estimates from CAD and Inventor drawings, blueprints, shop drawings and other documents
    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to represent Pillar Innovations in a professional, competent and courteous manner
    • Possess advanced knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
    • Proficient in organizational skills with high level of attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to excel under pressure and meet budget and project deadlines
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Must be able to effectively adapt to ever-changing and ever-emerging customer needs
    • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that include travel, out-of-town work, weekends, extended hours and call-out work
    • Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
    • Must be able to work well with co-workers and customers
    • Ability to effectively present information and coordinate with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals.

    • Required safety equipment:  Metatarsal boots, ARC flash rated clothing, protective eye wear, gloves, hard hat, and hearing protection


    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
    2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
