    Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications and resumes for a full-time Plumber / Fire Suppression Technician Apprentice.  The Plumber / Fire Suppression Technician Apprentice will be responsible for assisting with the service, repair and maintenance of fire suppression, detection and alarm systems.  The Plumber / Fire Suppression Technician Apprentice will work within a wide range of industries and applications to include, but not limited to: energy, commercial and industrial. This position is customer-driven and candidates must be flexible and willing to work extended hours.  This position will require travel to customer sites with some over-night/out-of-town stay and some emergency call-out work.   



    The Plumber / Fire Suppression Apprentice will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Grantsville, MD.

    • Assist in trouble shooting differing manufacturers of electronic fire alarm, detection and suppression equipment at customer sites.
    • Assist in reading and interpreting blue prints.
    • Assist in the preparation of paperwork relating to billing, time and material, etc…
    • Inspect and service all fire alarm and suppression systems.
    • Inspect and repair sprinkler systems.
    • Assist in responding to and resolving trouble calls – to include some emergency call-out work on an on-call basis.
    • Communicate with Project Managers and Project Engineers for daily duties.
    • Represent Pillar Innovations in a professional and positive manner.
    • Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
    • Must be willing to travel and work a flexible work schedule including Saturdays and Sundays.

    • 1+ Years’ of experience with fire suppression systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, deluge and fixed fire extinguishing systems preferred, but not required.
    • Backflow prevention certification is preferred but not required.
    • Technical/mechanical knowledge and abilities.
    • Ability to read blueprints and printed job specifications
    • Must be willing to attend training sessions and expand knowledge and certifications.
    • Underground mine experience is a plus but not required.
    • Possess or be working toward a Journeyman status.
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to work at heights upwards of 40’.
    • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations.
    • Required to wear safety equipment: as per MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.




    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
