    Pillar Innovations is now accepting applications and resumes for an experienced full-time Field Laborer – Fire SuppressionThe Field Laborer – Fire Suppression will be responsible for protecting human life through the service, repair and maintenance of fire suppression, detection and alarm systems.  The Field Laborer – Fire Suppression will work within a wide range of industries and applications to include but not be limited to: energy, commercial and industrial. This position is customer-driven and candidates must be flexible and willing to work extended hours.  This position will require travel to customer sites with some over-night/out-of-town stay and some emergency call-out work.     

    The Field Laborer – Fire Suppression will be based out of the Pillar Innovations’ office, located in Grantsville, MD. 


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Assist with the following:
      • Inspect and repair sprinkler systems.
      • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, test and repair fire detection and suppression systems.
      • Fire extinguisher servicing.
      • Troubleshoot differing manufacturers of electronic fire alarm, detection and suppression equipment at customer sites.
      • Read and interpret blue prints, diagrams, submittals, specification, schematics and operational product manuals.
      • Proactively assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
      • Prepare associated paperwork and forms for customer service and project activities in a timely manner as required.
      • Respond to trouble calls and emergency service calls on an on-call basis.
      • Communicate with Project Managers and Project Engineers for daily duties.
    • Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
    • Must be willing to travel and work a flexible work schedule including Saturday and Sunday.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Plumbing experience on fire suppression systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, deluge and fixed fire extinguishing systems is a plus
    • Understanding of the principles of fire alarm protection and fire alarm systems is a plus but not required
    • Technical/mechanical knowledge and abilities.
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
    • Must be willing to attend training and remain updated with regard to industry standards and requirements.
    • Underground mining experience is a plus but not required.

    • Ability to work at heights upwards of 40’
    • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations.
    • Required to wear safety equipment: as per MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment 
    1. This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
