Position Overview

The general role of a Senior Technician – Electronic Security and Safety is to respond to prioritized support for service requests and field installation such as troubleshooting and repairing cabling systems and equipment. This will include electronic security, access control, and fire alarm systems along with other related electrical systems. This position must be flexible and willing to travel with occasional overnight stays and work extended hours as needed.

 

The Senior Technician will report to the Department Manager – Electronic Security and Safety and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

What You'll Do

  • Interpret and review blueprints, schematics and drawings of network, fire, security and/or other related electrical systems
  • Create, review, and approve in-field as-builts
  • Install electronic security products such as cameras, NVRS, DVRS, access control, intercoms, gate operators, fire alarm systems, and networks
  • Install EMT and rigid conduit
  • Inspect electrical, security, fire and networking systems and their components for possible repairs or maintenance
  • Install electrical system components as assigned (i.e. panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, switches, cameras, servers, card readers, etc.)
  • Program and troubleshoot installed devices
  • Efficiently navigate Windows, Linux, and their associated Server Systems
  • Prepare written materials to document activities and/or convey information
  • Remain detail oriented and methodical when troubleshooting
  • Identify additional business opportunities with new and existing customers and communicate them to managers
  • Work patiently and maintain positive communication with customers
  • Effectively navigate challenging situations with customers to produce a positive outcome
  • Serve as a technical leader on multiple projects
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Train and mentoring other Technicians

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years’ relevant experience in commercial/industrial electronic security solutions preferred
  • Expert in fire alarm, video surveillance, and access control in the field
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to recognize colors
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and creating as-builts
  • Ability to use a variety of basic hand and power tools
  • Experience in fiber optics required
  • Possess and willing to obtain multiple relevant manufacturer certifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers and customers
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate conflict and ensure a positive outcome
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, and possess a positive and productive attitude
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and their associated Server Systems
  • Ability to work independently and with co-workers
  • Demonstrated leadership and training abilities

Working Conditions

  • Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
  • Sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
  • Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
  • Be safety and customer-focused, without exception

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. In accordance with The Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy, employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
