Position Overview

The general role of a Working Foreman – Electrical is to lead electrical work and direct the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical components within customer locations. 

 

This individual will work with both low and medium voltage electrical applications, and work in a wide array of industries including Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Coal, Wind Energy, etc. This position must be flexible and willing to travel with overnight stays and work extended hours as needed.

 

The Working Foreman will report to the Department Manager - Electrical and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and direct day-to-day electrical work as required for the completion of smaller, less complex projects and assignments
  • Coordinate with management to ensure jobs are timely, on-budget, meet code requirements, and customer needs and expectations
  • Lead teams in installing and testing new equipment
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in industrial facilities
  • Run a variety of styles and sizes of conduit and cable trays to electrical devices
  • Pull wire to termination boxes, panels, and other controllers
  • Install basic and more complex electrical components such as motor control centers, transformers, instrumentation, switch gears, PLC controls, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues, systems, and components with minimal direction and supervision
  • Drive ground rods and install grounding grids
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment pertinent to the electrical trade
  • Read, follow, and mark up electrical code, manuals, wiring and circuitry diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and other electrical specifications
  • Assess jobs to determine material, tool, and equipment needs and provide guidance to other electricians as needed
  • Coordinate with inspectors and other trades as needed
  • Provide detailed paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping, billing and inventory
  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner to answer customer needs and requests as necessary
  • Communicate and coordinate with customers to ensure successful job completion
  • Identify potential value-added sales opportunities to increase company revenue
  • Obtain prior customer approval for any change orders and accurately track change orders through final payment
  • Provide ongoing feedback to management regarding employee performance, production, and placement
  • Provide feedback and input for employee performance reviews
  • Train and mentor personnel as required
  • Assist other electricians with training and licensing test preparation
  • Assist with interpretation and proper implementation of the NEC (National Electric Code)
  • Lead and mentor electricians and electrical assistants

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of electrical experience or equivalent/relevant education preferred
  • Experience in Industrial Electrical required
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Possess a Journeyman’s License (NM preferred)
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), electrical theory, and AC and DC circuits
  • Ability to utilize tools and diagnostic devices relevant to the electrical trade
  • Ability to read, interpret, and markup electrical drawings, circuitry, and schematics
  • Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
  • Demonstrated leadership and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects
  • Possess basic estimating skills preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work well with others and act in a respectful manner towards co-workers and customers
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
  • Ability to take accurate measurements
  • Competent with Microsoft Software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must understand NFPA 70e Electrical Safety Standards (Arc Flash)

Working Conditions

  • Walk, crawl or kneel / use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders, stairs, or other elevated/ fixed structures for extended periods of time
  • Sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
  • Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA/ANSI requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, required PPE for elevated work, fire retardant clothing, protective eye wear, etc.
  • Be safety and customer-focused, without exception

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. In accordance with The Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy, employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
