Position Overview

The general role of a Construction Manager - Wireless Services is to manage, lead, and supervise all aspects of project execution in the field, including managing multiple customers and projects simultaneously. 

 

The Construction Manager will be responsible for coordinating and performing various activities for the Wireless Services Group. These activities include modification inspection, tower mapping, antenna audits, tower maintenance, construction management and site walks for installing, repairing, constructing, and maintaining various communications systems.  This position will be approximately 70% field work and 30% office work.

 

The Construction Manager will be responsible for working with other members of management to coordinate schedules for the Wireless Services group and assign work duties to field personnel. This position will require a flexible schedule which may include extensive travel, extended hours, weekends, and holidays. 

What You'll Do

  • Read, interpret, and modify site documents such as construction drawings, radio frequency data sheets, structural analyses, mount analyses, tower modification design drawings, etc.
  • Develop and execute rigging plans for hoisting operations per industry standards
  • Attend pre-bid site walks for project management team and relay information back to management team for quoting
  • Serve as a field contact for assigned customers, cultivate customer relations, and identify sale and value-added opportunities
  • Schedule production teams within budget and time constraints
  • Conduct daily site inspections for crews to ensure that schedules, quality, and safety requirements are being met
  • Meet project deadlines and maintain quality control of project deliverables
  • Coordinate with subcontractors as applicable
  • Write reports from field observations and communicate regularly with management
  • Observe and report possible compound/equipment defects or hazards
  • Operate and maintain test equipment
  • Accountable for employee performance reviews for assigned personnel to include utilizing feedback from Field Supervisors
  • Identify issues and concerns from the field and ensure that a positive relationship exists between the field personnel, the Customer, and Division Management
  • Learn to assist with project cost tracking/invoicing
  • Maintain a basic understanding of employment laws and regulations and collaborate with Human Resources to maintain compliance

Working Conditions

  • Walk, crawl, kneel, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, stairs or other elevated fixed structures for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Climb at heights of 300’+
  • Perform duties on-site at commercial and industrial locations
  • Wear safety equipment as per OSHA/MSHA/ANSI requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal boots, hard hat, required PPE for elevated work, fire retardant clothing, protective eye wear, etc.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in the wireless communications industry with at least 4+ years of experience installing and maintaining cabling, antennas, microwave dishes, tower builds, site inspections, lighting systems, and wireless carriers preferred
  • 5+ years of supervisory or construction management experience preferred
  • Possess basic electrical knowledge to include knowledge and understanding of NEC (National Electric Code) and other applicable industry standards for electrical
  • Valid Driver’s License required  
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain certifications for courses such as: ANSI A10.48 Rigging Certification, Crane Signaling/ Rigging, Capstan Operations, RF Awareness, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and other certifications as required
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, crews, and customers  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting and costing practices including budgeting, invoicing, purchase orders and accounts payable 
  • Must possess rigid safety standards
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with co-workers and customers effectively and professionally 
  • Must possess a working knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) 
  • Possess knowledge and experience operating test equipment and software to include RF sweep gear, PIM, AAT, RET, fiber testing, and other applicable equipment pertaining to the job or task
