Position Overview

At Pillar Innovations, we believe that innovation begins with people—those who are curious, collaborative, and driven to solve real-world challenges. As a member of our engineering team, you’ll help design and deliver low-power wireless solutions for industrial IoT applications that have meaningful impact in the field.

We’re currently seeking an Embedded Electronics Engineer to support the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of our products. This role will be filled based on the experience and expertise of the selected candidate, with opportunities available at the junior, mid, and senior levels.

This position is ideal for individuals who want to work hands-on, contribute across the full product lifecycle, and be part of a team that values curiosity, responsibility, and long-term thinking.

 

The Embedded Electronics Engineers will report to the Engineering Manager and will work out of the Morgantown, WV Division. 

What You'll Do

Design & Development

  • Develop embedded firmware and middleware primarily in C and Python.
  • Design and test electronic circuits and PCBA layouts.
  • Integrate with enterprise cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create robust, testable hardware and firmware systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including Bills of Materials and design records

Manufacturing & Delivery

  • Support PCBA fabrication by coordinating with contract manufacturers.
  • Define and source components in collaboration with the supply chain team.
  • Assist in product testing, production readiness, and transfer to manufacturing

Customer & Field Support

  • Work with Field Services to install and commission new systems.
  • Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting, issue resolution, and product refinements.
  • Support customers with technical expertise—not sales—in a professional and responsive manner.

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Mid- and senior-level engineers may lead technical projects and mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure projects stay aligned with technical, schedule, and cost expectations

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform field work at industrial sites.
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements including PPE standards.
  • Be safety and customer-focused, without exception

What You'll Bring

Minimum Requirements (Based on Tier):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in embedded firmware development and circuit-level troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, analog/digital design, and development tools.
  • Experience with Linux environments and scripting in Python.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Experience Tiers:

  • Junior: 0–2 years of relevant experience; eager to learn and grow.
  • Mid-Level: 3–6 years; capable of leading initiatives and collaborating across teams.
  • Senior: 7+ years; leads complex development efforts and mentor others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Working knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure), Altium Designer, and Atlassian tools.
  • Experience with ultra-low power design and wireless communication protocols (BLE, LoRa, Zigbee).
  • Understanding of battery systems and power optimization for embedded platforms
