Position Overview

Are you experienced in traffic control and ready to take on a more advanced role in ensuring safety on the job site? As a Traffic Control Flagger II – Fiber Optics, you’ll play a vital role in protecting both your crew and the public by expertly monitoring and directing traffic around active fiber optic work zones. In this position, your focus and situational awareness will help identify potential hazards and keep operations running smoothly and safely.

 

You’ll be expected to confidently interpret and implement traffic control plans, operate signaling devices, and follow safety protocols in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of traffic safety who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining control of a fast-paced environment, and is ready to be a trusted, experienced presence on the job site. What You'll Do

  • Act as the MOT (Manager of Traffic) on assigned jobs and lead other Traffic Control Flaggers on those jobs
  • Responsible for communicating and educating all personnel on site about traffic plans and flow to ensure safety
  • Properly identify, implement, and communicate traffic control plans as provided by the state or locality where work is being performed
  • Direct traffic safely through work zones by properly setting up and tearing down signaling devices such as road signs, barriers, cones, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of safety regulations and guidelines related to traffic control operations
  • Maintain awareness of environmental hazards that might require a shutdown of work, such as fog, ice, lightning, etc., and communicate with Project Managers and on-site personnel to quickly respond to those hazards
  • Stay up-to-date on emergency procedures such as proper response to accidents, incidents, and hazardous situations, including how to communicate with emergency responders and assist with traffic management during emergencies

  • Walk/use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl/kneel
  • Work outdoors in various harsh weather conditions

  • Lift up to 65 pounds without assistance

What You'll Bring

  • 1+ years of flagging experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • ATSSA Flagger Certification required
  • Traffic Control Certifications in multiple states required
  • Possess or the ability to obtain MTBMA Temporary Traffic Control Manager Certification within 60 days
  • Proficient with basic traffic control safety and best practices
