Position Overview

The general role of a Civil Technician II – Wireless Services is to safely and efficiently complete equipment installations, repairs, and upgrades at communication sites on the ground under the supervision of trained personnel. This work will be performed in both commercial and industrial locations.

 

This individual will represent Pillar Innovations in a safe, professional, and courteous manner. This position will require a flexible schedule which may include extensive travel, extended hours, weekends, and holidays. 

 

The Civil Technician II will report to the Construction Manager – Wireless Services and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

 

What You'll Do

  • Safely and efficiently complete equipment installations, repairs and upgrades (i.e., compound expansions, earthwork, trenching, installing electrical conduits, grounding systems, tower modifications, etc.)
  • Utilize heavy equipment (i.e. excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, etc.) and hand tools to build customer infrastructure
  • Document job costs, including labor hours and material in an accurate and timely manner
  • Complete physical material inventory upon delivery
  • Assist with documentation and other paperwork as required
  • Accurately follow instructions and completing assigned course of action in accordance with scope of work and methods of procedures (MOPs)
  • Observe and report possible defects or hazards in equipment and work site
  • Read and understand site documents such as Scopes of Work, Construction Drawings, Tower Modification Design Drawings, etc.
  • Perform pre-work and post-work site audits
  • Execute rigging plans
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct equipment and network functionality
  • Obtain customer approval for change orders
  • Assist management, leads, or Foremen in training less experienced members of the team
  • Assist Foreman in scheduling of labor, materials, and other job tasks

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience working in Commercial or Industrial Construction preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks and skills
  • Maintain certifications for courses such as: ANSI A10.48 Rigging Certification, Capstan Operations, RF Awareness, OSHA 10, First Aid/ CPR and other certifications as required
  • Ability and attitude to follow rigid job safety standards and properly utilize specialized Personal Protective Equipment
  • Willingness to work in extreme environmental conditions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Possess computer skills and ability to use software applications including Microsoft Suite
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Aptitude for Leadership

Working Conditions

  • Walk, crawl, talk, see, read, hear, feel, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, grasp and climb with both hands and legs for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
