Position Overview

Are you someone who enjoys designing and problem-solving behind the scenes, yet also appreciates seeing your work come to life in the real world? We’re looking for an Electrical Design Specialist – Engineering & Automation to join our team and support a variety of innovative projects from concept to completion. In this primarily office-based role, you’ll work closely with engineers and project managers to help design and develop control panels, robotics, vision systems, and other custom electromechanical equipment. You’ll use your technical knowledge to assist with electrical design, documentation, and troubleshooting while occasionally heading to the shop or customer sites to support installations and ensure everything runs smoothly. This position is perfect for someone with a strong understanding of electrical principles who enjoys detailed design work, collaboration, and seeing how their contributions directly impact project success. Occasional travel and flexible scheduling are part of the role, but so is the satisfaction of seeing your work make an impact every day.

What You'll Do

  • Interpret electrical drawings and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products
  • Develop and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects as assigned
  • Order and track materials using data sheets
  • Design in 2D CAD software, create electrical schematic drawings, and panel layouts
  • Learn to recognize and communicate design changes to Engineers and Project Management that are not included in the Scope of Work or active Change Orders

Working Conditions

  • Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
  • Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Perform work on site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years’ experience or equivalent/relevant education and experience, such as a Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree, or Technical Certification in Engineering or a relevant field
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Possess electrical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on work
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a team
  • Proficient in the use of software packages such as AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design software
  • Willingness to stretch current abilities to learn new skills
