Position Overview

As an Electrical Helper, the general role is to work in conjunction with Electricians and Electrical Foreman to install, maintain, and repair various electrical components within customer locations. This individual will be exposed to both low and high voltage electrical applications, and work in a wide array of industries including: Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Coal, Wind Energy, etc.

 

The Electrical Helper will report to the Electrical Department Manager and will work primarily out of the Farmington location.

 

What You'll Do

  • Assist Electricians and Electrical Foreman with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
  • Install lighting, electrical outlets and circuit breakers
  • Install conduit and cable tray systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems under the supervision of a state journeyman electrician
  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Travel to various job sites as required
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment pertinent to the electrical trade
  • Assist with paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate record keeping, billing and inventory
  • Assist in other areas of the company and perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Successful completion of an Electrical Trade School Program, Instrumentation and Controls Program or at least one year of experience in electrical work
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory
  • Experience bending conduit, pulling, and terminating wires
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Flexibility to work a schedule of four weeks on and one week off

 

Working Conditions

  • Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
  • Sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
  • Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements 

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
